Terms of Service — Face Rater
The terms for using Face Rater: what the service provides, acceptable use, payments and refunds, and disclaimers.
Last updated: 2026-09-20
1. The service
Face Rater ("the service", operated by Face Rater; contact: hello@facerater.io) provides:
- a free, browser-local photo analysis producing a custom 0–100 reference score, a tier label, three explained measurements, and a measurement overlay; and
- an optional paid report ($6.99, one-time) containing full measurement explanations, observations, and non-medical suggestions, delivered as a private web page and PDF tied to your account.
By using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Nature of the scores — read this first
- The reference score and tiers are custom photo-geometry references defined by this site, computed from a single photo. They are affected by lighting, camera angle, lens, and device.
- They are not an objective measure of attractiveness, not a percentile or ranking against any population, and not a judgment of your appearance or worth. Reference ranges are initial values pending calibration.
- The service is provided for informational and entertainment purposes.
3. No professional advice
Nothing in the service — free or paid — is medical, dermatological, psychological, or cosmetic-surgery advice, and nothing should be relied on for health or appearance-treatment decisions. Suggestions in paid reports are limited to non-medical styling and photography topics, each stated with its basis, conditions, and limits. Consult qualified professionals for any health-related question.
4. No trait inference
We do not infer or claim to infer intelligence, trustworthiness, competence, personality, age, or health from photos, and you may not use the service to make such inferences about others.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to:
- upload only photos of yourself, or photos of someone who has given you explicit permission;
- not upload photos of minors without being their parent or legal guardian;
- not use the service to harass, demean, or rank other people, or to publish scores as judgments about others;
- not attempt to reverse-engineer, overload, or abuse the service or its payment and report-generation systems.
6. Accounts and payments
- Purchases require sign-in via Google or GitHub OAuth. Reports are tied to your account so you can retrieve them on other devices.
- Prices are fixed server-side at checkout and charged once per report. No subscriptions, no recurring charges, no secondary paywalls inside a purchased report.
- Refunds: every purchase carries a 7-day, no-questions-asked refund window; see the refund policy.
- We may refuse or cancel orders in cases of fraud, abuse, or payment disputes, and we may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
7. Privacy and data
Data practices are described in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms. In brief: free analysis is local to your browser; purchasing sends only a numeric measurement summary and your preferences to our servers.
8. Intellectual property
The service's software, design, text, and report templates are owned by the operator. Your photos remain yours; we claim no rights over images you analyze. Generated reports are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator's aggregate liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or $6.99 if you made no purchase). Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Changes
We may update these terms; the date above reflects the latest version. Material changes affecting paid users will be notified to the email on their accounts.
11. Governing law and disputes
Governing law and venue: the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Where mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction provides greater rights, those rights apply.
12. Contact
